Edelman Adds Three New Financial Communications Leaders

Edelman’s Financial Communications & Capital Markets team announced the addition of three new executive vice presidents: Renee Calabro and Josh Hochberg in New York and Sophie Sohn in Chicago. They join Edelman’s growing Financial Communications leadership team with a focus on transactions, capital markets communications, shareholder activism, investor relations and special situations.

“The addition of Renee, Josh and Sophie further deepen our strategic advisory team in the key areas of shareholder activism and transactions, capital markets communications and regulatory communications,” said Lex Suvanto, global managing director, Financial Communications & Capital Markets. “We are thrilled to welcome them to our global team and bring their expertise to our clients. We are proud to offer clients an unmatched combination of strategic advisory and integrated communications services supported by specialized individuals such as these new team members.”

Calabro joins Edelman following 13 years at Deutsche Bank, where she most recently served as head of Communications for the Americas. For more than a decade, she served as Deutsche Bank’s lead U.S. media spokesperson and helped the bank navigate a series of complex events. Her work included positioning Deutsche Bank’s various business lines within the U.S. banking industry, as well as crisis and litigation communications as the regulatory landscape evolved during and after the financial crisis of 2008. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Calabro worked at Edelman and before that began her career at Abernathy MacGregor where she supported strategic and crisis communications for media, healthcare and financial services companies.

Hochberg comes to Edelman following 13 years at strategic communications firm, Sloane & Company, where he was Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets and Investor Relations. Earlier, he was a founding partner of a boutique corporate communications firm where he developed and directed corporate positioning programs for companies across a broad spectrum of industries. Hochberg has managed complex transactions between large multinational organizations, including proxy fights, mergers and acquisitions. He began his career with Edelman, marking his return 20 years later.

Sohn joins Edelman from KCG Holdings, where she was chief communications & marketing officer for the global trading firm. Previously, Sohn was head of Communications for GETCO, LLC., a pioneer in the field of high frequency trading, where she led the communications strategy for GETCO’s reverse IPO in 2013 as well as the firm’s rebrand following the acquisition of Knight Capital Group. Earlier, Sohn was an award-winning broadcast journalist. She received a Front Page award in 2005 for Business Coverage at CNN, and an Emmy for “Outstanding Instant Coverage of a News Story” while at ABC News.
